Greenock-based international paper trading company PG Paper has appointed a managing director. Chris McKendrick was most recently chief executive of Scottish luxury beauty and home fragrance brand Arran Aromatics.

Inverclyde Is The first Council Area In Scotland To Scrap Charges For Respite Care

The local authority has been quick to act on new legislation giving carers a legal right to support. The Scottish Government has committed £19.4 million towards the policy, including £2m for workforce development.

Teams Of Walkers Can Sign Up To Take Part In The New Inverclyde Stride Event

The coast is clear for community groups to form teams of walkers to take part in the new Inverclyde Stride event. It involves 18-mile and four-mile fundraising waterfront walks on Saturday August 31 to raise funds for good causes.

Pepe's Piri Piri Chicken Restaurant Plan For Greenock

Inverclyde Council planners are being asked to agree that an empty Greenock shop can be turned into a Pepe's Piri Piri chicken outlet. A change-of-use application seeking permission for town centre premises at 128 West Blackhall Street to become a restaurant and hot food takeaway has been submitted to the council.

Church Heritage Project Will Include Getting The Bells Ringing Again

St John’s Church in Gourock has been awarded £240,000 for a heritage project - Our Church History Through Stained Glass. The money is coming from the National Lottery Heritage Fund (NHLF) and Heritage Environment Scotland (HES). The project focuses on engaging young people and the wider community with the church heritage.

Ambassador Role For National Body For Inverclyde Schoolgirl

Rhianna McGee, 16, has been chosen to inspire the next generation as a sportscotland young ambassador and is set to lead inspirational conferences across Scotland starting this September. The Clydeview Academy pupil from Gourock was delighted to be accepted and is hoping to motivate more girls to get involved in sport.

Grammy-nominated Jazz Star Who Is Still Performing At 88 Is Heading Back Home To Greenock

A Grammy nominated jazz star who is still performing at 88 is heading back home to Greenock to perform for the first time in 60 years. Legendary saxophonist and songwriter Duncan Lamont is savouring a return to the town where he grew up, playing at the Beacon Arts Centre on Sunday 16 June.

Greenock Bus Company Issued With A Warning Following A Public Inquiry

Temporal Travel Ltd were called to a public inquiry in Edinburgh following an investigation by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). A traffic examiner reported the company for breaches of drivers’ hours rules and failing to download data from their vehicle, which is a legal requirement.

Senior Citizens Are On The Ball At Glenfield Care Home Thanks To Morton In The Community

The club's community arm visited residents as part of their ActivAGE programme. The aim of the project is to get older people moving and socialising as much as possible.

Jayden Orr, from Port Glasgow, died in 2017. Since then his family has been campaigning and fundraising to install child-friendly defibrillators in schools. Now pupils at Newark Primary have made a film to show how simple the machines are to use.

Volunteer Inverclyde Gets Show On Road For Volunteers’ Week

Volunteer Inverclyde is hosting roadshows at venues throughout the district to celebrate its first birthday and mark Volunteers' Week. The project launched this time last year was set up by CVS Inverclyde and aims to facilitate and encourage volunteering across the area.

Over 150 Signed Up For Port Glasgow 10k

The sponsored road race will take place on Sunday June 16, setting off and finishing at Coronation Park, and it coincides with the Comet Festival. The route, which has this year been licensed by Scottish Athletics and is sponsored by Riverside Inverclyde, will also take in Kingston Dock, the town centre, Clune Park, Fyfe Shore, Kelburn Park and the boardwalk.

'Starlight Swims' Announced For 2019 Gourock Pool Season

Booking has opened for Gourock outdoor pool's summer 'starlight' swims. The first is on Wednesday 29 May with the others every fortnight after that on 12 June, 26 June, 10 July, 24 July, 7 August and 21 August. Doors open at the Albert Road facility at 9:45pm.
