Bosses Prepare For Busy Cruise Season In Greenock

Over 120,000 cruise ship passengers will dock in Greenock this year on board some of the world’s most famous vessels. Ocean Terminal bosses are preparing for another bumper cruise call season, welcoming 17,000 more visitors than in 2017.

Three Per Cent Inverclyde Council Tax Rise Confirmed

Council tax in Inverclyde will go up by three per cent in 2018/19. The decision was made at a full meeting of Inverclyde leading to an estimated increase of £860,000 for the council.

HRH Princess Anne Visits Inverclyde Butchers New £800k Facility

Her Royal Highness visited Mearns T McCaskies in Wemyss Bay on Wednesday 21st February to cut the ribbon at the state-of-the-art plant, which has been built over the last 18 months behind the Shore Road shop.

MSP Calls For Kilcreggan Ferry Contract To End Early

MSP Jackie Baillie is calling for the early withdrawal of the publicly-funded Kilcreggan ferry contract following 10 days without a service. The last sailing to Gourock was on Monday 12 February with the operator, Clydelink, blaming electrical problems.

Schools Updated On Moving In Dates

Staff and pupils at three Inverclyde primary schools have been told when they can expect to move in to new and refurbished buildings. The new £9.2million St Ninian’s in Gourock is close to completion along with the refurbishments of Moorfoot Primary (£5million) in Gourock and Lady Alice Primary (£3.8million) in Greenock.

Plan Submitted For House At Kilmacolm Self-Build Site

Plans have been lodged to build a four-bedroom detached house at 35 Leperstone Avenue, Kilmacolm on one of the serviced plots for self-builders created by regeneration organisation Riverside Inverclyde as part of an Inverclyde Council initiative. The application is pending assessment by officials.

Police Scotland is to dispose of two of their Inverclyde stations as part of an estates sell off. The unused office in Port Glasgow is already on the market while bids will soon be invited for the vacant Gourock building.
