Global Maritime Business Blu Marine Arrives As Shipbuilding Industry Grows Again In Inverclyde

Riverside Inverclyde (Ri), has welcomed Blu Marine to Lynedoch Industrial Estate in Greenock. The Belfast-headquartered business has offices in Salisbury and Hong Kong and has leased 3,200 square feet at the now fully-let Greenock industrial park.

Mexican-inspired Fast Food Restaurant Set To Open In Greenock

A drive-thru Taco Bell will open at the Waterfront Retail Park off Customhouse Way later this year. Known for its Tex-Mex tacos, burritos, quesadillas and nachos, the American fast-food chain is set to bring 40 jobs to Inverclyde.

Mums 'Gutted' At The News Their Children's Nursery Is To Close

Enterprise Childcare, who run the Pre-3 Nursery at Greenock Sports Centre, say ongoing financial problems are to blame and will have to shut down on June 14 if the organisation can't reduce its losses, or find another provider to take on the nursery.

Greenock Store Property Put Up For Sale

The building occupied by discount retailer B&M in Inverkip Street, is now on the market for offers over £3.9m. B&M has given firm assurances that the premises, where they hold a lease until August 2032, will not shut.

New Royal Fleet Auxiliary Ship To Have Links With Greenock

Greenock was previously the affiliated town of RFA Gold Rover, which provided service in support of the Royal Navy, NATO, and coalition allies for more than 40 years. RFA Tidesurge will now take on the honour, continuing its close ties with Inverclyde.

McDonald’s Dry Cleaners To Close

The owner of a long-standing dry cleaners has blamed the burden of business rates on his decision to shut up shop. McDonald’s Dry Cleaners will disappear from Greenock town centre as Mohammed Khan closes down his Grey Place premises.

Historic RAF Social Club Saved

There were fears that the RAF Club in Greenock wouldn't see out the year due to a backlog of major repairs but the trustees have now been thrown a huge lifeline from the RAFA headquarters in Leicester.

£50,000 is available in each of Inverclyde’s seven council wards. The Participatory Budget ballot is open to all Inverclyde residents over 16 years old with the full list of projects on the Council's site.

Cash Will Help Young Inverclyde People With Disabilities

Community project Inverclyde Thrive - run by Barnardo’s Scotland - has been awarded a £10,000 grant from the Scottish Children's Lottery. The funding support the Fun with Friends group at Thrive, a weekly social group for young people aged 12-to-19 with disabilities.

Inverclyde Council raises council tax by 4.79%

The increase will generate an extra £1.4million in revenue for the authority, which is facing a £3.3million funding gap in 2019/20.

Spinnaker Hotel Owner To Shave Head And Host Charity Night

Stewart McCartney, who owns the Spinnaker Hotel in Gourock, was inspired to help arrange a fundraising event there on Saturday April 13 following the sad passing of his partner’s brother, Paul Fraser.
