The Wise Group, a social enterprise that tackles social, economic and environmental issues throughout Scotland and the North of England, has announced an expansion at Ladyburn Business Centre in Greenock. The group, which was founded in 1983, has increased the size of the space it leases from Riverside Inverclyde (ri) by almost 60% to 872 square feet.
The expansion in services and ability to take larger premises has been supported by the success of Inverclyde Home Energy Advice (i.HEAT), which offers free impartial energy advice and support to households in Inverclyde with energy related concerns. Initially launched in 2014, the programme has seen great success with further funding confirmed from Scottish Power for the programme.
Jim Percival, Sustainability Development and Delivery Manager at The Wise Group said:
“We have seen sustainable growth of The Wise Group over the past few years and we’re delighted to be able to move into these larger premises to enable the delivery of our many projects across Inverclyde. We are proud of the difference that i.HEAT makes to the different communities we serve. We’d like to thank Riverside Inverclyde for their support in making this expansion possible.”
The Wise Group in Inverclyde has grown from an initial 6 employees to 9 with a further 2 Home Energy Trainees also involved in delivery of projects with the social enterprise.
Ri’s Ladyburn Business Centre has been developed to support businesses on a growth trajectory. The building offers variable sized suites with flexible leases and is a perfect stepping stone for businesses looking to take the next step from their starter premises.
Andrew Bowman, Head of Business Investment at Riverside Inverclyde said:
“Ri is delighted to support the growth of The Wise Group at Ladyburn Business Centre. It is always pleasing to see growth in existing Inverclyde companies and we are delighted to be able to offer the larger premises to meet the increased business requirements. The Wise Group has made a great difference to our communities across Inverclyde and we wish them continued success.”
Ladyburn Business Centre hosts a wide range of tenants including The Wise Group, River Clyde Homes, Antenatal Babyscan Clinic 4D (ABC4D), Nicholson McShane Architects, Mind Mosaic, North Atlantic Minerals, Enterprise Childcare, SKV Group, Miller Surveying, Key Housing, and Gryffe Studios. The former Ladyburn School offers 27 traditional offices across two floors. Ladyburn Business Centre is part of the wider Riverside Business Park, which was developed and completed by Riverside Inverclyde in 2013.
With the increased market demand, Riverside Inverclyde will be turning its attention to filling the remaining four suites at Ladyburn ranging from 355 sq ft to 517 sq ft.
